I was sitting here trying to get my new site here up and running; and I hear static crashes on my HF rig.
I happen to look at the radar and this is what I saw…:
Needless to say, I jumped up and unhooked the HF antenna from the Kenwood TS-950SDX in a big ol’ hurry. If it was a new radio under warranty, I wouldn’t care. However, this Kenwood TS-950SDX is old and parts for it are getting harder and harder to get. So, if I took a direct or even indirect hit; this radio would become a 60 lbs door stop! So, I disconnected.
I should also mention that I am a trained skywarn spotter.
So, off I go to the front porch to watch the storm come in. 🙄
I cannot wait till winter.
