{"id":20,"date":"2014-08-12T18:19:53","date_gmt":"2014-08-12T18:19:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/k8cpa.com\/wp\/?p=20"},"modified":"2014-08-12T23:18:49","modified_gmt":"2014-08-12T23:18:49","slug":"the-joys-of-weather-in-michigan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/k8cpa.com\/wp\/?p=20","title":{"rendered":"The joys of weather in Michigan!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was sitting here trying to get my new site here up and running; and I hear static crashes on my HF rig.<\/p>\n<p>I happen to look at the radar and this is what I saw&#8230;:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-21\" src=\"http:\/\/k8cpa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/radar.jpg\" alt=\"radar\" width=\"500\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"http:\/\/k8cpa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/radar.jpg 822w, http:\/\/k8cpa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/radar-300x247.jpg 300w, http:\/\/k8cpa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/radar-363x300.jpg 363w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, I jumped up and unhooked the HF antenna from the Kenwood TS-950SDX in a big ol&#8217; hurry. If it was a new radio under warranty, I wouldn&#8217;t care. However, this Kenwood TS-950SDX is old and parts for it are getting harder and harder to get. So, if I took a direct or even indirect hit; this radio would become a 60 lbs door stop! So, I disconnected.<\/p>\n<p>I should also mention that I am a trained <a href=\"http:\/\/skywarn.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">skywarn<\/a> spotter.<\/p>\n<p>So, off I go to the front porch to watch the storm come in. \ud83d\ude44<\/p>\n<p>I cannot wait till winter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was sitting here trying to get my new site here up and running; and I hear static crashes on my HF rig.
